About Kyle Mathis

Hair Salons shouldn't be about celebrities.  It's about the art and the everyday people that walk out looking the best they have in the last six weeks.

Having moved to Los Angeles in 2005, Kyle Mathis brings over 16 years of experience to Kyle Mathis Hairdressing.  Inspired by the music industry and his love for art, Kyle created a salon environment that feels more like a lounge than a hair salon.  What he has coined “Rock 'n Roll Zen”, the salon is a breath of fresh air from the pretentious typical LA hair salon yet still keeps the upscale feel you're accustomed to.

As a previous educator for Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, TIGI and Bedhead, Kyle draws from his technical experiences as well as the clients’ lifestyle and personality to create a more individualized style.

He feels that specializing allows a stylist to perfect their craft and focus on their strengths, rather than “being good at everything”.  Personally, Kyle focuses on soft, natural-looking layers.  When working with color, he specializes in a technique called “Balayage”.  This is a hand-painted technique of highlighting that gives a natural, sun-kissed blonde.

He also works with an extension system called PURE.  Rather than use heat and glue that damage the hair, this is a non-abrasive, cold-bond system that uses the finest human hair available.  The same hair can be used year round, and it’s painless to remove.

Kyle’s calm, relaxing demeanor and attention to detail have made his salon an instant success and 2009 Nominee for Best Salon in Southern California.  The salon has also been featured in SoCal Scene Magazine, Beverly Hills Times, Modern Salon and more.
